Dr. Meredith Newman was recently appointed to be the Senior Associate Dean for the College of Arts & Sciences at FIU. She served as the Chair of the Department of Public Administration for the past six years. A new department chair will be announced shortly.

PhD student Gretha Burchard received the David Gould Scholarship for attendance at the 2013 annual conference of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) from March 15-19 in New Orleans. The Gould Scholarship is awarded by ASPA's Section on International and Comparative Administration (SICA).

The purpose of the Ramon Sanchez Student Enrichment Fund is two-fold: 1) to honor the legacy of Mr. Ramon Sanchez, a long-time adjunct in the Department of Public Administration, who tragically died from injuries sustained in a car accident in January 2012; and 2) to fund lectures and other events that strengthen our PA students' and alumni experiences.
Former county manager brings 'practical knowledge'

George Burgess, former Miami-Dade County Manager is now part of the University as professor in the Department of Public Administration. Burgess holds 28 years of public service experience across various levels of government.
