MPA professor receives Distinguished Local Government Leadership National Award

On February 23, 2016 the Association of Government Accounts (AGA) presented to Alfredo Riverol the Distinguished Local Government Leadership National Award at its Annual National Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. This award recognizes the outstanding leadership of individuals in local government that led to improved financial management practices, policies, systems or operations and consistently exhibited the highest personal and professional standards. He is the Chief Financial Officer in the City of South Miami.

Alfredo holds two Master Degrees; Master of Public Administration (MPA) & Master of Science in Taxation both from FIU. In addition, Alfredo is an adjunct Faculty member of the MPA program where he teaches Public Finance and Budgetary Process. He is considered by his peers, students and fellow alumni as an inspiration and a model of career success.

Alfredo’s belief in government and his dedication to public service is admirable. His ethical values stand to be a model for anyone who aspires to serve the public in a government position capacity and as a professional in the outstanding accounting field.
