Kaila holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Jacksonville University. Prior to joining the PhD program, she worked for a statewide nonprofit agency focusing on financial growth, program development, and federal advocacy initiatives. Kaila currently works as a Research Assistant for the FIU Metropolitan Center where she contributes to the Center’s community development research initiative. Her research interests include cross-sector collaborations in health, collaborative governance, and the opioid epidemic. Her principal focus is on the role of government agencies in responding to the opioid epidemic.
