Dr. Can Chen’s policy report (the lead author) of “Financing Tools for Urban Redevelopment” has recently been posted on the Nebraska State Legislature’s website.
The policy report provides valuable inputs for Nebraska’s Senates (Urban Affairs Committee) for considering new laws for authorizing innovative financing mechanisms/tools for urban economic development in Nebraska.
Redevelopment matters for improving the overall health of local communities. Blighted and substandard neighborhoods affect the physical landscape of a community, as well as quality of life and economic competitiveness. Successful redevelopment activities can revitalize these blighted areas, spur the local economy, and strengthen the future vitality of the community. The purpose of this report is to identify financing tools to help encourage urban redevelopment in the Omaha area, and throughout the state of Nebraska.
