Biography

Abdullah Ishak Khan is a doctoral student in the Ph.D. in Public Affairs program at Florida International University, where he also serves as a Graduate Assistant. He is currently a Deputy Director at the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) under the Prime Minister’s Office, with over eight years of experience in public administration, international business, and development policy.

Mr. Khan earned a Masters in International Business Strategy from ICS, Hitotsubashi University, Japan, as a recipient of the highly competitive MEXT (YLP) scholarship awarded by the Government of Japan. During his studies, he also served as BEZA’s Liaison Officer in Tokyo, facilitating bilateral investment promotion between Bangladesh and Japan. He previously completed a full-time MBA at the prestigious Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, and holds a Bachelor in Agribusiness from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.

His academic and professional training has spanned leading institutions across the world. He pursued credited, on-campus coursework at the University of New South Wales (Sydney), Peking University (Beijing), and Seoul National University (Seoul), followed by an in-person executive education program at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A). He further completed online credited courses at Yale School of Management and IMD Switzerland. These experiences reflect his commitment to cross-cultural learning and global public policy innovation.

Professionally, Mr. Khan has managed high-impact infrastructure projects, including the $300 million Japanese Economic Zone development project in Bangladesh, designed to foster foreign direct investment and industrial growth. Earlier in his career, he gained private sector experience through the Global Management Program at Uniqlo of Japan and as a Management Trainee Officer at Mutual Trust Bank in Bangladesh.

His research interests include development policy, digital governance, public-private partnerships, and institutional leadership in emerging economies. He has co-authored publications on trade, green marketing, and investment climate, and has presented at international conferences.
