Biography
Ana Luiza Ferreira Terra Pinto is a Ph.D. student in Public Affairs and a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Public Administration at Florida International University's Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. Her research interests include economic development policy, public service motivation among younger generations, civic leadership and citizen engagement, public administration in Brazil, election administration, and intellectual property rights.
Ana Luiza was selected for the American Society for Public Administration's Founders' Fellows Class of 2026, ASPA's premier program recognizing the next generation of public servants in both the academic and practitioner communities. At FIU, she serves as Chair of the Graduate and Professional Student Committee (GPSC), Graduate Representative in the Student Government Association, and Student Representative for the ASPA South Florida Chapter. She is also a Graduate Fellow at the Maurice A. Ferré Institute for Civic Leadership, works with the Volcker Alliance's Next Generation Service Corps, and has served as a Teaching Assistant in graduate and undergraduate public administration courses.
Prior to joining FIU, Ana Luiza worked as a lawyer in Brazil. She also brings professional experience from across all three branches of the Brazilian government: Advisor to a Federal Deputy at the Chamber of Deputies from 2018 to 2020, Advisor to the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Minas Gerais, and intern at the Court of Justice of the State of Minas Gerais. She completed internships at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in finance and customer satisfaction, and holds a bachelor's degree in law from Faculdade de Direito Milton Campos in Brazil. A native Portuguese speaker, she also speaks English, Italian, and Spanish.
