Humayra Sultana
Biography
Humayra Sultana is a graduate student pursuing a PhD in Public Affairs at the Florida International University (FIU). Humayra completed her bachelor’s and master's from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) in Disaster and Human Security Management under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in 2018 and 2019 respectively. She worked as a disaster management professional at BRAC University's Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER) until 2020 which allowed her to gather versatile knowledge.
She is currently working as a Research Assistant at the Extreme Events Institute (EEI), where she is participating in an NSF-funded Collaborative Research on Hazard Events, Risk Perception, and Public Support for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas: a 17-Country Study. Her research interests include disaster-induced relocation and disaster risk reduction through an understanding of risk perception and decision-making.
